partnerships, as a means of increasing City
involvement in the economic development process

Support the efforts of the Pipestone
Area Chamber of Commerce and the Pipestone Economic
Development Authority, to expand and attract
compatible business and industry; and cooperate with
them in this endeavor.

Encourage continued economic
diversification, while maintaining a viable tax base

Provide an adequate level of municipal
utilities and services to accommodate economic
expansion

Realize the importance of a strong
Central Business District (CBD) and encourage
businesses to locate in the CBD rather than on a
City's fringes

Continue to promote and encourage the
Central Business District as the focal point of
commercial and retail activity

Promote and encourage tourism to its
potential, focusing on the historical nature of the
City and National Monument

Encourage the expansion and growth of
existing local industries

Attract industries that will maximize
the return on municipal investments; i.e., facilities
and services

Encourage high technology businesses
to locate in Pipestone

Encourage businesses which can make
use of the Pipestone Technical and Community College
to locate within the City

When consistent with the City's
Business Subsidy Policy provide incentives for
existing businesses to expand or for small businesses
to locate in the City
