Welcome to The City of Pipestone MN
Pipestone's Public Transportation
The City of Pipestone's Transit Program
has been in existence for approximately
24 years. The taxi service is demand responsive and all
residents of the City are eligible to use the service.
Initially, the program operated with one taxi. A second
taxi was needed in order to satisfy the demand. In 1995
the city acquired their first 11-passenger, one-wheelchair
accessible bus. At present, the City has three of the
fore- mentioned buses. Since the transit program has been
in existence, the amount of service has been steadily
increasing. In 1990, 19,854 passengers used the taxis; in
1999, 28,229 passengers were counted. There were 29,365
passengers in 2000. Passengers are charged for rides,
however, tokens are available to lessen the financial
burden of the service.
